- Know your skill level.
- Know your market.
- Figure time/materials.
- Add what you think the job/piece is worth.
- Check around to see what similar work is selling for.
- Try to find out what the budget of customer is for art purchases.
- Figure price based on time, materials, skill level, estimated amount customer is willing to spend and going prices for geographical area.
- Be prepared to negotiate.
- Decide on an amount that you will not go below.
- If customer insists on a lower price than your minimum, just say no.
- Stick with your minimum.
- Be prepared to say "No, thank you".
- Do not let customer control the price.
- Be polite but firm.
- Never ever do art for friends or relatives if you want to get paid!
