The Hurley Vernon Memorial Fund

This page is dedicated to the memory of Hurley Vernon, the father of Donna Jackson, the founder and Director of
The Gallery Group and Art Studio, Inc.

The Purpose of this page is to honor the memory of Hurley Vernon by accepting donations
to the Gallery Group and Art Studio, Inc.
in memory of Donna's father.

Any donations recieved will be used for a fund to further the goals of The Gallery Group
and possibly start a scholarship fund for promising students in the future.

The Apple Man

Hurley Vernon was an ordinary man. A hard working caring man who liked apples. He grew apples, crated them up, loaded them on trucks and hauled them to the Farmer's Market, ... all his life. Apples were his life.

He hauled apples, raised a family and loved to go rabbit hunting.

I never got a chance to meet Mr. Vernon but I have met some of his family. I have known Donna Jackson, Hurley's daughter, for a couple of years now. She is the Founder and Director of The Gallery Group and Art Studio in Mount Airy, North Carolina. I am an artist and member of the gallery.

I do know that Donna has worked tirelessly to keep the Gallery going while, along with her husband John Jackson, to raise their family and take care of her father who has been gravely ill for quite some time. She is strong like Hurley and she loved her father as dearly as he loved her. That is a bond that can not be broken. Her father will live on in our hearts and minds because we have known Hurley through his daughter.

Hurley fought hard even though the odds were against him. He was strong to the end. He even wanted to go rabbit hunting one more time. He was the kind of man that most men would like to be.

I don't know if there are apple orchards or rabbits in Heaven but if there are the apples will be taken care of and the rabbits had better hide.

I am Philip DeLoach, friend of John, Donna, Ben, Johnny and Will Jackson. I hope that time will heal the wounds but not erase the memory of Hurley Vernon, the Apple Man.
