ARTIST STATEMENT:
I find most of my paintings are more centered on the process rather than simply the final outcome of each piece.
In looking at my body of work, there is a common thread in color selection and emphasis on texture, but the design
and style of each piece may vary. It may be non-objective, abstract or impressionistic. There is a mystery that unfolds with each piece as I work through it; an emotional connection that occurs with each journey through the work. There are sometimes happy accidents that bring a piece to life and lets me know that even as much control as I would like to have, that there are unexpected precious gifts that come my way. It derives a more spiritual connection on some level to the work.
My photography focuses on a more realistic approach. I enjoy photographing flora, fauna, landscapes and water scenes, basically nature inspires me. I also have a connection with 18th century scenes that I enjoy. My husband is involved in living history projects and I like photographing people and places in period costume and settings. It's exciting to capture a photograph that for all intensive purposes could have been photographed so many years ago. There is a freedom that comes when you feel you have stepped back in time and have escaped the hustle and bustle of today to a much simpler way of life. I believe my photographs represent that.

ART BIOGRAPHY:
Currently I am working toward completion of my Associate in Fine Arts Degree from Surry Community College. I enjoy teaching and working with others in the art field. I volunteer with disabled adults, sharing art therapy with them to enhance their lives at the Gallery Group and Art Studio located in Mount Airy, NC. I am also the Secretary of the Mount Airy Art League and have assisted to bring several art shows to the community. I have participated in juried art shows, those being:
